Kurt Angle — The Olympic Hero
Kurt Angle came to WWE with credentials no other performer could claim — a real Olympic Gold Medal, won with a broken freakin' neck at the 1996 Atlanta Games. He became one of the most complete wrestlers in the history of sports entertainment: technically flawless, legitimately dangerous, surprisingly comedic, and capable of carrying any match to five stars. In an era of characters and gimmicks, Angle was the real deal.

Olympic Gold — With a Broken Neck
Kurt Angle won the 100kg freestyle wrestling gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with a legitimate broken neck. It is one of sport's great stories of determination. That same toughness defined his entire professional career — whether it was working through injuries or carrying lesser opponents to greatness.
1999–2006
The WWE Machine
From the moment he debuted in 1999 with his "three I's" gimmick (Intensity, Integrity, and Intelligence), Angle was exceptional. His rookie year was a whirlwind — Intercontinental title, European title, then the WWE Championship all within 14 months. His technical wrestling ability combined with surprising comedic timing made him a fan favourite even as a heel.
2006–2019
TNA, Return, and Hall of Fame
After leaving WWE for TNA in 2006, Angle became a cornerstone of that promotion — multiple TNA Championship reigns and some of his most technically refined work. His 2017 return to WWE as Monday Night Raw General Manager and 2018 WrestleMania moment were a fitting tribute before induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

vs The Rock & Stone Cold
Angle's early career placed him right in the middle of the Attitude Era's biggest names. His interactions with The Rock produced comedy gold while his matches with Stone Cold were hard-hitting classics. The triple threat dynamic of Angle, Austin, and The Rock at the turn of the millennium was appointment television every week.
vs Shawn Michaels — WrestleMania 21
WrestleMania 21's Angle vs. Michaels match is widely considered one of the greatest wrestling matches in WrestleMania history. The technical genius of Angle against the showmanship of Michaels produced a near-perfect contest. The Ankle Lock sequences, the counters, the false finishes — a clinic that aged perfectly.
vs Undertaker — Unforgiven 2000
Angle versus The Undertaker in Hell in a Cell at Unforgiven 2000 was a brutal showcase of two completely different styles colliding. The power of Undertaker against the technical grappling of Angle — with Angle actually making the Cell seem conquerable — told a compelling story through violence and submission attempts.
vs Brock Lesnar — Iron Man Classic
Angle vs. Lesnar in a 60-minute Iron Man match on SmackDown is remembered as one of the most physically demanding contests in WWE television history. Two legitimate amateur wrestlers going full speed for an hour produced a result that legitimised SmackDown as appointment viewing in 2003.
